How do I know if my roof has sustained wind/hail damage?
Signs of wind damage more commonly found on roofs over 10 years of age.
High winds can cause damage to our roof, even without hail or other harmful weather. High winds can cause several types of damages to your roof, such as:
- Leaks
- Missing Shingles
- Gutter Problems
Shingles roofs especially take a beating during high winds, despite most being rated to withstand 90 mph winds. Damage to your roof can begin at around 50 mph, so you should know how to check your roof for such damage.
Insidious in nature and not obvious, hail damage can shorten the lifespan of your roof.
A significant number of roofs that are hit by hail never get replaced, because homeowners don’t see the damage. Insurance adjusters will require the opinion of a professional roofing contractor before they will approve the roof repair/replacement. Depending on the size of the hail, the damage may be more or less obvious.

- Bruising
- Circular Cracking
